People would often create their clothing themselves, this meant tie-dying, decorating items with fringes, feathers and so on. Flowers and peace signs became the symbol of this new hippie movement. Leather sandals or bare feet were common.
Accessories were worn from head to toe and the Moroccan theme was very big. Women would often dress a little like men, wearing their shirts and also baggy pants. This was by a liberation movement taking place for the women. The mens fashion became more bold and also daring in the 1970's. Their footwear for example would be very flamboyant. They would have thick platforms and crazy colors. This was both popular for the older and younger generation. |
